BARNSDALL EXHIBIT

In October 2015 I was invited to be a part of Fiberlicious, a group show at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, also known as Barnsdall, presented by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Curated by Scott Canty and Carol Shaw-Sutton, the show featured 16 artists.

I relished the opportunity to think about process and context, and what things are made of. My installation is a reflection on materials and their transformation. Images below of my pieces, the show, and the kimono I created for the opening where we were encouraged, along with the visitors, to wear our art, to be part of the show!

Below are close-ups of the installation I created using shuttles I designed and had laser cut by Sheldon Wolf - you can see it hanging in the background of the gallery images. This was a tribute to thread and materials that hold everything together. Click the image to enlarge.
