indigo Journals

Indigo has been the inspiration and the starting point for many different projects.Shown below are few examples. The Oaxacan Journal started in Oaxaca where I was on a dye tour under the wonderful guidance of Traditions Mexico. Satiated at the end of full days of visiting weavers, dyers and spinners, I started this piece to remember the vivid colors and incorporate the bits of dyed wool and cotton to commemorate the journey.

The Shibori Journal is a little sample book to house my collection of fabulous indigo dyed Japanese Shibori fabrics. The Shibori journal uses a quilting technique where you stitch around shapes of paper to form the elements of the quilt. I love this connection and melding of paper and fabric.
